About Me
I am Bangkim Biswas, currently working as a 'Senior Research Associate' at the Global Development and Research Initiative (GDRI), Bangladesh. Over the past four years, I have collaborated on large-scale research projects with academics from institutions such as Monash University (Australia), Utrecht University (Netherlands), Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), Vanderbilt University (USA), Khulna University (Bangladesh), Northern University of Business & Technology Khulna (Bangladesh), BRAC Centre for Peace and Justice (Bangladesh), Shushilan (Bangladesh), 10 Minute School (Bangladesh), and Dhaka North City Corporation (Bangladesh), as well as others across South Asia.
My work has focused on the design, implementation, and impact evaluation of field experiments, as well as overseeing projects, particularly in low-income and rural settings. At GDRI, I have led and contributed to several impactful research initiatives, including projects on COVID-19 vaccination, IVR-based health and education outreach, tele-mentoring and counseling, and behavioral interventions aimed at improving out-of-school learning and reducing public littering.
Prior to GDRI, I served as a 'Research Officer' at a coastal research organization, where I worked on climate-resilient livelihood strategies for vulnerable communities in southwestern Bangladesh. To date, I have published nine peer-reviewed articles—six as lead author—and presented my research at three international conferences. My scholarly work primarily addresses issues related to climate adaptation, rural livelihoods, and educational equity.
I hold a Master's degree in Economics from Khulna University and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Barishal.
Professional and Research Network
I have established a diverse professional and research network, collaborating with renowned organizations and institutions, including 10 Minute School, BRAC Centre for Peace and Justice, Dhaka North City Corporation, Barishal University, Shushilan, Northern University of Business and Technology Khulna, and Technische Universität Dresden. These partnerships reflect my commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability, and impactful research across education, social justice, urban development, and climate resilience.
